When I opened up my 40 over 40 project I met some incredible human beings. All of their stories touched me and it was such a blessing to meet each and every one of them.
When I read Valerie's story. . . I cried. I had quite a few tears rolling down my face for what this woman has accomplished in her lifetime! When you meet her, she's a ray of sunshine. She's warm and always has a smile on her face. You could never tell she had any hardships. She's strong. She's funny. She's enduring. I loved talking to her and having the opportunity to get to know her. When she told me she was a Veteran and wanted to capture that - I knew the vision in my head and it was an HONOR to create for her. To take the time and dedication to produce a beautiful portrait for her . . . I couldn't be more honored knowing she gave her time and dedication in the military. Anyone that knows me, knows I hold such a special place in my heart for military members and this was such a beautiful story for me to hear and to tell through portraiture. It's what I love to do and capture. To know what the little pieces in this portrait mean to know how important it is to her story brings tears to my eyes to look at. Such a remarkable human being!
