The power of antiques, textures and art

Brianna, age 15

This was such a fun and incredible session with Brianna! At the age of 15, sessions are typically magical especially when you have someone like Brianna that was so much fun to work with! I bought the blue oil lamp at an antique shop and it just added so much to the art pieces!

"Incorporating antiques into portraits adds a timeless and nostalgic charm, enriching the visual narrative with layers of history and character. Whether it's a weathered wooden chair passed down through generations, a delicate lace veil worn by ancestors, or a vintage pocket watch that once ticked away in another era, each antique brings its own story to the composition. These objects not only serve as props but also evoke a sense of connection to the past, bridging generations and adding depth to the portrait's storytelling. Their aged textures, intricate designs, and patinaed surfaces create a visual contrast against the modern backdrop, lending a sense of authenticity and elegance to the scene. Using antiques in portraits allows for a blend of personal heritage and artistic expression, offering a unique glimpse into both the subject's individuality and their familial legacy." - Maria Sampaio

Thank you Brianna for your willingness to "play" at the studio!
