Anyone with a camera can call themselves a portrait artist. And, while we love supporting ALL artists to create the art they love, there’s a big difference between a portrait photographer and a portrait artist like Maria Sampaio, who has more than a decade of experience and creates one-of-a-kind portrait masterpieces. So, why should you trust us with your memories? We’ll touch on the highlights.
7 Things that Set Castelo Portrait Art Apart
1. Unmatched artistry.
You can get your photo taken almost anywhere these days. But a formal portrait is not the same thing as an selfie you take of you and your family for your Instagram feed. When you work with Castelo Portrait Art to capture a portrait of your children or your family, you can count on us working tirelessly to capture a moment that will stand the test of time. The images that come from our studio are so much more than a photograph that’s been quickly touched up. Our artist pours hours of her blood, sweat, and tears, into every portrait so that it is unmatched in it’s artistry. You’ll never want to take it off your wall (unless you’re packing your family up to flee a hurricane--then, it will be the first thing you put in your car!).

2. Attention to detail.
Don’t you just hate it when something’s just a little off about a portrait, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is? One of the things that makes Maria’s work different from other portrait artists or photographers is that she is a perfectionist with an impeccable attention to detail. And while it’s not always the best for her health (she’s been known to stay up all night entranced in her work, making tweaks until it meets her high standards), it means that the finished product is flawless.
3. Original image every time.
Since Maria is so focused on her art and has such a high attention to detail, the result is something unique every time. Every image should tell a story, Maria says. And since no two families are alike, each story should be different. We don’t like cookie cutter here, so you will never get something that looks just like a portrait hanging in your neighbor’s house. Your work will be one-of-a-kind, just like your family!
4. The sky’s the limit.
No matter what kind of portrait you’re interested in, we can accommodate you at Castelo Portrait Art. Whether you want a particular color scheme to match your home’s decor, want to send a particular message, or just want something timeless and classic, your wish is our command. Our studio is equipped with many different set options and props. We have the most up-to-date technology to capture and edit your photos. And Maria’s skill and artistry are unmatched when it comes to creating professional portrait art. If you can dream it, she can create it. So, go ahead--dream big!
5. There’s never a sitting fee.
Unlike other portrait artists, who charge to simply take your photographs, we will never charge you a sitting fee for a regular appointment whether its in studio or on location. We’re so sure you’ll love your portraits, we apply every cent of your deposit toward the price of your finished artwork. (Children's events and premium hours are a little different because of the nature of the imagery.)
6. You get so much more than a picture.
At Castelo Portrait Art, we understand that having a professional portrait taken is about so much more than having a picture made. It’s about the experience, memory and preserving a special time in your life, so you can always hold it close to your heart. And we believe that the whole experience of making the portrait should reflect that. From the moment you step into the studio, you’ll feel at home.
You’ll be given the royal treatment as we learn more about your vision and come up with a plan to create it together. Then, when it’s time to take your photograph, you’ll feel like a model on our set. (Don’t worry! No modeling experience is required--Maria has a way to make her subjects feel super comfortable as she directs them.)
Once we’ve captured your image, there are many options for turning it into a work of art--Maria specializes in making original oil paintings for a traditional look (her favorite) or opt for a more whimsical feel on rag paper - or a traditional photograph... Either way you’ll be so thrilled with the result, we’re sure you’ll want to show it off for years to come - eventually becoming an heirloom.
7. Your memories are important to us.
Time moves much too quickly. Oh, if only there were a way to slow it down! But since that’s not possible, having a timeless professional portrait made is the next best thing. That’s why we do what we do here. Because family is so important to us, too. We wouldn’t dream of trusting our memories to anyone other than the best (especially during those precious childhood years when the kids are growing and changing so much with every passing day!). It is our life’s work to help family’s push the pause button on a moment in their lives so that they can be taken back there every time they view the portrait. You can’t put a price tag on that.
