Yesterday, I had the opportunity to work with Lowcountry Parent Magazine on a photo shoot for an upcoming issue. I’m thrilled to be contributing because I know the magazine is so helpful for local parents, and, of course, it’s an honor to be featured. The portraits were taken at Ashley Hall School and as you will see, their campus is stunning! Everything from the shell house to the bear cave and fountain.... The plants and ambiance in general.... perfect and stunning.
I was even more excited to work with the child models they chose for their shoot. I always love to work with children because there's something so innocent and magical about kids. (They're my favorite subjects!).
It was also fun to see all the adorable clothing options available in local children’s boutiques. I really love supporting small businesses and there's something about outfitting your child in locally-inspired outfits that makes the photos even more special. It just makes the photos feel like home, if you know what I mean--comfortable, effortless, and sentimental, too.
As a long-time portrait artist that specializes in fine portraits of children and family photos, clients are ALWAYS asking me where they should go to get that perfect outfit that really helps their little ones shine.
I thought it might help to share a little about each of the boutiques I worked with yesterday on the shoot with info on how to find them. Each of these local children's clothing boutiques in Charleston SC and surrounding areas all have their own unique style, and bring something a little different to the table. So, where you shop will totally depend on what look you’re going for for your child’s portrait.
Or, if you're really unsure, make a few selections and send me photos. I love to help my clients with choosing the perfect outfit for their child or family portrait!
Southern Belles: A Children's Clothier
I was thrilled to see that Southern Belles would be represented in this Lowcountry Parent. I’ve worked closely with this adorable boutique before, so I KNEW that the clothing they’d contribute would be absolutely perfect--classic, timeless, and elegant. Southern Belles is an upscale children’s boutique in Mount Pleasant that has adorable clothes, shoes, and accessories perfect for play or a special occasion (like a portrait session)
I send my clients there because I know they’ll be treated like royalty and come up with something that matches the style and feel of the portrait we’re trying to create. They did not disappoint!
Just look at this image (above) of a little girl named Ellory all decked out in clothes from Southern Belles. Just gorgeous!
For more information on Southern Belles, check out the website.
Here are a few of my other favorite images from the shoot and the children's boutiques where you can find them! Such gorgeous options! If you're in the midst of planning your next portrait session and you're like so many who get stumped on clothing, this should give you an idea of what kind of styles you might find at some local Charleston and Mount Pleasant children's clothing boutiques. Of course you can always call us to discuss what you have in mind! We are very involved with our clients and take the preparation very seriously as we do the imagery created!
