The thing about what I do is I like to focus on artwork for the home. I like to give you quality over quantity if you will. You can go to any photographer out in town and pay a set rate for a guaranteed number of pictures to download. That number can be anywhere from 5 to 200. Sometimes even more! The reasoning for that is that every photographer will send you a JPEG of that image that is captured. There's always a process when it comes to photography and it's very time consuming. How many images do we capture during a typical session? It can be well over 400. What do I display to you to pick from? It's always below 18 - every time. Why? Well, I'm not going to show you a ton of images with your eyes closed, speaking, or not even looking at the camera. That would be an immense waste of my time and your time. The process of slimming down the number of images captured to portraits you see is called culling. All photographers do this. We slim it down to the very best ones and that's where normal photographers would edit them and then send them to you. This can take quite a bit of time as, like I said, there are hundreds more images than what you see! Take in the editing time? We can be sitting in front of the computer anywhere from several hours to days on getting those JPEGS to you! We want our best work displayed, whether it in home or on social media, and this is why editing is important. Our brand is represented based off what others see. Giving you a raw file isn't our best work and it's also is an enormous file. It can take up to an hour to transfer even ONE raw file to another computer. It also isn't compatible with most programs on your desktop or phone. It can take hours or even weeks to teach someone to properly use these programs . . . that's why you hire a photographer!
Now - this is where my work is different. I don't just "edit" the photographs I capture. I digitally manipulate and paint them for the look you see on my website, social media, and displayed in my clients' homes. I don't send JPEGS and I don't sell digitals. I make beautiful artwork meant to be displayed and not just put on social media to never be seen again. Whereas some people would like those 200 images to put in an album on Facebook or share in their stories on Instagram, I want the people who want a beautiful piece that is going above your couch, or the mantle, or even your bed. A heirloom album that is passed down through generations. I really go into how my work differs HERE and how I got to this point with education HERE! Opening a studio in Charleston, SC was no small feat and I take immense pride in what I do. I want you to freeze that time and capture a beautiful painterly portrait from it.
When you decide to book a session, I always highly encourage that you select a spot to put your portrait. Knowing where you want to display your artwork is important when it comes to color schemes and what you're capturing. It helps making the selection process easier and it helps with sizing.
