It's something you may not think about but it's the FIRST thing that pops into my mind. In Charleston, SC there are some beautiful skies. . . Whether it's sunrise or sunset, the sky can be a beautiful deep red or orange or the most stunning blues. Capturing beautiful faces in the portrait studio is always my favorite but I do also breathe in the fresh air during some of my sessions! Some of my favorite sessions are beach portrait sessions with the sand between my toes and the sound of the water crashing into the beach in the background. While the beach offers some of the most gorgeous scenery - there are things I have to think about and sacrifices that have to be made to get the perfect shot!
For example! TIME! You can't just go in the middle of the day. Studio appointments can be made any day and any time . . . rain or shine, it doesn't matter! Middle of the day just doesn't work on the beach. Why? For one, it's HOT in the South! You'll be sweating within minutes of stepping foot on sand! While I can make those droplets disappear - it's no fun for anyone if they're sweating and miserable during the photographic experience! Another reason why timing is important is the amount of people you're bound to run into! Folly Beach, Kiawah Beach, and even Edisto beach are more likely to be crowded during the day and even during sunset! Picking the perfect time to hopefully avoid large crowds and get the beautiful contrast in the sky is what I'm thinking of and what we're planning for! Making your experience and creating your perfect painting is the top priority!
Starting from the very first phone call - we go over everything! We talk about who's in your family and who you want captured in your beach portrait! Do you have children? What are they like? What do YOU want me to capture in your children? Extended family? EVEN BETTER! Let's chat about your family and what they mean to you! It's important for me to know the personality of who I'm capturing and what they mean to you. What color scheme are we going with? What clothing would you like to wear???? Let's talk about what will look best and what YOU are comfortable with! These are going to be heirloom pieces . . . you want them around for a long time and I want to create that beautiful memory with you. Create something you love!!!! I can't wait to speak with you and create a beautiful piece of art :)
