Meet Zander - age 10!
Coming up with different thematic sessions is sometimes a difficult task. To come up with a unique idea that fits a certain child and to make it come to life isn't as easy as you think it would be!
When I created my FINE ART project . . . I knew going in that I had so many ideas. When I saw the children coming in, though? My ideas changed. Hair colour, eye colour, hair length, freckles. . . all these things come into play when I am coming up with a theme! I got asked a lot "Well, what is the theme for my child?" and truth be told sometimes I didn't know. Sometimes I had to walk away and come back to the picture and then a light bulb would go off. Or I had an idea and when the child would come in - my idea changed. It's almost like picking a name for a child or a pet - you don't know until you see them!
When I saw Zander and noticed his hair - this idea of Sherlock Holmes came to mind. His dark hair and how we could part it cover his eye - he reminded me of a detective! As you can see - the portrait is stunning and no other theme would have fit that face! It's a unique idea and very specific to him and him alone. He wouldn't fit in with teddy bears or being an astronaut - he's on the case and finding the clues with his magnifying glass!
These sessions have been so fun for me and has really helped me be creative and let out that artist side that sometimes is all bottled up! I love working traditionally with families but I don't have have control over what they wear or how they do their hair. These sessions let me take the full reigns and enjoy the session! To cater it to the very last detail :)
