We encourage the creation of a painting of someone you love or with someone you love to be done while you are vibrant, healthy and living! For example, what a lot of my families don't know is the prime age to capture a child's face is between 4-6. The reasoning behind this is actually their face structure. After the age of six your child will start to loose their baby teeth and start maturing from a toddler face to a young boy or girl. The toddler stage can be frustrating at times but so many of us look back and can't believe how over the course of a year they've grown so much. Capturing that beautiful face, smiles, freckels and dimples for a family is so special and heart warming because they truly don't look young for long. They grow up and their jawbone changes, they get taller, and they more often than not don't want to be part of that family portrait. As they grow up into beautiful adults and have children of their own you can always look back on your wall and see the timeless portrait of them while they were still young and that memory of them will last forever.
You can see all the stunning historical homes here in Charleston, SC and experience the beautiful work of artists and how those portraits have graced those walls for so many years. There's beautiful artistry inside the Nathaniel Russel House, the Joseph Manigault House, and so many more!! They're gorgeous, timeless, and last through the years. Yes, they're old, but they have stood the test of time and still remain beautiful.
While I do love creating artwork of young children and families, sadly, I do get a lot of calls and emails about someone that has passed away. Creating a painting of a loved one who is no longer with you can be such an important step in the healing process. Seeing a painting of someone on your wall that you held so dear brings a smile to your face. It reminds you of them when they aren't any longer to walk through your front door or have a conversation with you on the sofa. You see that painting and remember that place and time that they were very much alive and with you. It's important to hold family close and to cherish them. I want to be a part of that process. Capture every moment and step while you can - tomorrow most certainly isn't promised!
